Study Shows Personal Health Records (PHRs) Lead To Improved Health And Engagement For Seniors With Coronary Diseases

A Challenge Grant awarded by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) to Indian Health Information Technology, Inc. (IHIT) and NoMOreClipboard (NMC), a Personal Health Record (PHR) vendor, was extended to make Health Information Exchange (HIE) data available to patients. The funded study was provided with pre-populated PHRs to approximately 200 cardiac patients over the age of 55. Over a six-month period a significant improvement in hemoglobin and patient activation scores was found.
